So I heard this analogy and I cannot get it out my mind. And i've noticed this happens pretty often which has led me to here. My first blog post! So yeah, hey!! Thanks for being here!
So anyway, back to the analogy...
Picture this: You're holding a cup of coffee, feeling like a superhero with your caffeinated sidekick, ready to conquer the day. Suddenly, out of nowhere, someone crashes into you, and bam! Your precious potion of alertness goes flying in slow motion, creating a Jackson Pollock masterpiece on the floor. Coffee: 0, Gravity: 1. It's a brew-tal world out there!
Can you explain why you spilled the coffee?
You might answer, "ehhh, hellooo!? Someone bumped into me!"
You are wrong. You spilled coffee because there was coffee in your cup. If there was tea in your cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is in the cup is what will spill out!
So... remember, whenever life shakes you up, gets in your way, barges into you...whatever is inside YOU will come out.
Because its easy to pretend you're ok...until life shakes you up a little. Challenges you. Pushes you past limits. Then sooner or later, that confident voice in your head is being shoved out and being replaced with the squeakiest Ross Gellar "i'm fineee."
So, i'd like to ask you today...what's in YOUR cup?
When life gets tough what spills over? Joy? Gratitude? Confidence? Anxiety? Bitterness? Anger? Happiness?
It's important to remember that life gives you the cup, but YOU get to decide what to fill it with.
What do YOU want to be filled with?
So just stop to smell if the coffee smells bitter or sweet? Strong or weak?
Bring awareness to your day, to THIS moment. and ask yourself "how do i feel right now?"
Awareness is the first step to making a change. Once your aware, ask HOW can I feel my best? And adjust accordingly.
Embrace Change:
If that requires you to pour out the tea and replace it with a fresh cup of coffee, remember, sometimes life just needs a little more caffeine and a lot less steeping!
Wake up and smell the coffee my dear!
